NJ RPO Qual
Whether you’re qualifying for the first time or renewing your permit, our RPO course provides a professional, safe, and efficient experience to keep you compliant and confident.
Our RPO qualification follows the official New Jersey Attorney General’s approved course of fire and meets all state requirements for semi-automatic and revolver handgun certifications.
Upon successful completion, attendees will receive the signed documentation required for submission to the New Jersey State Police Firearms Investigation Unit.
To qualify, you must:
Be a retired full-time law enforcement officer in good standing (state, county, municipal, or federal).
Have retired within the last year or already hold an active RPO permit being renewed.
Be a resident of New Jersey (or previously employed by a NJ agency).
Not be prohibited from owning or carrying a firearm.
Required Course of Fire
TDistance: 3 to 25 yards.
Rounds: 50 rounds total per firearm type (semi-auto and/or revolver).
Target: FBI Q target or NJSP Q target.
Passing Score: 80% (40 out of 50 rounds in scoring area).
Must be completed for each firearm type you intend to carry.
Typical stages include:
3 yards – 6 rounds, draw and fire.
5 yards – 6 rounds.
7 yards – multiple strings (reloads, strong/weak hand).
15 yards – 12 rounds.
25 yards – 12 rounds.
